Program Overview

B.Tech in Civil Engineering is an undergraduate degree offered for four years of duration. This course provides knowledge and technical skills for designing, planning, construction and maintaining buildings. This will build a strong foundation in structural analysis, construction technology, geotechnical engineering, surveying, transportation engineering, environmental engineering and more.

Manipur International University (MIU) combines theoretical and practical learning through field surveys, industry visits, live projects and laboratories. Students will gain hands-on experience with modern construction techniques, engineering software, and advanced technologies used in the civil engineering sector.

The curriculum of the course is divided into eight semesters with study of mathematics engineering, mechanics engineering, building materials, structural analysis, and project management. To be eligible for admission students are required to pass 10+2 through PCM stream from a recognised board.  B.Tech Civil Engineering at MIU will open various career opportunities for students in areas such as junior engineer,  site engineer, geotechnical engineer, environmental engineer, and construction manager.

Learning Objectives

  • Civil engineering Fundamental: Learn the important concepts of civil engineering which includes building structure, soil, roads, water systems, construction material and more.
  • Structural Design: Understand how to design buildings, bridges and other structures while maintaining safety and strength.
  • Water Resources Engineering: Learn about the water supply system, drainage, irrigations and how water moves
  • Construction Management: Gain knowledge of cost estimate, quality control, material, site management, and more.
  • Surveying Techniques: Learn about modern surveying tools like GPS and GIS for accurate measurements and infrastructure planning.
  • Engineering Software: Students will gain hands- on experience with civil engineering softwares such as AutoCAD, STAAD.Pro, REVIT, and more used by engineering to design, draft and analyze projects.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Students must have a background in physics and mathematics in 10+2 from a recognised board of education.
  • Students having equivalent qualifications can also apply.
  • Minimum 50% marks is required by students in board examination and reserved category students get 5% of relaxation as per the UGC guidelines.

Why Choose MIU for B.Tech in Civil Engineering?

  • Recognised Degree: Students will get a UGC recognised degree that will show that the degree holds validity.
  • Practical Learning Approach: The university focuses on lab, site based learning, and hand on experience apart from the classroom knowledge.
  • Experienced Faculty Support: Students will get the guidance from experienced faculty to understand the technical concepts.
  • Develop Professional Skills: They work on improving students communication, teamwork, leadership, and problem solving ability.
  • Career Oriented Training: MIU prepares  students for interviews, aptitude tests, and industry requirements.
  • Career Opportunities: Graduates can pursue their career as site engineer, environmental engineer, construction manager and more.

Career Prospects

Junior Engineer Graduates will initially start working as junior engineers in the government and private sector. They need to supervise the construction and quality of work.
Assistant Engineer They will help in planning, designing, and managing civil engineering work. They also provide support and guide site work.
Site Engineer They will manage daily construction activities at the site.
Structural Engineer They check the design and structure of the building and bridges and ensure they are safe and strong.
Geotechnical Engineer They will study the soil and water to design safe foundations, tunnels, and earth related construction work.
Highway engineering They plan and design roads, highways, and bridges to improve facilities.
Water Resource Engineering They generally work on projects related to water management like Dams, Canals and more,
Environmental Engineering They develop a solution for clean water, pollution control, and environmental protection.
