Inaugration of Centre for Manipur Thailand Co-operation Studies & Centre for Peace and Conflict Studies

Manipur International University (MIU) is opening a Centre for Peace and Conflict Studies to address the long-standing conflict issues in the state. The center aims to provide courses on peace and conflict studies, empower youths with knowledge and skills to address conflict issues, and execute in-depth studies to generate field reports with recommendations for policy makers, social activists, and the public. The center will collaborate with Multilateral agencies and other countries as needed and become a resource organization on conflict issues for other parts of the country and other countries. The action plan includes opening online courses, regular certificate courses, diploma courses, and master courses. Prioritized research will focus on analyzing the root causes of conflicts, understanding the impacts of unaddressed issues, conducting seminars and conferences, developing strategic plans for problem redress, publishing research reports, studying interventions, and developing future course of action.

Manipur International University (MIU) is proposing the establishment of a “Center for Manipur Thailand Co-operation Studies” to promote international relations and align with the Government of India’s Act East policy. The center will focus on areas such as Education, Biodiversity, Thai language and culture, Tourism and Trade, and Agri technologies. The center will conduct in-depth studies and open courses to enhance coordination and collaboration between Manipur and Thailand, enhancing collaborative research, academic activities, cultural exchange programs, and trade and tourism.

Manipur’s rich biodiversity, anthropological goldmine, and cultural heritage make it an ideal location for collaborative research and sensitization training programs. The center will also provide better facilities for tourism and trade between Manipur and Thailand, organize trade fairs, business development programs, and need-based exposures and training. The center will also disseminate and popularize the findings of these studies to the general public to facilitate changes to improve the lives of the people.
